He is preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Sandra Hollier Guidry; his parents, Elias Guidry,
Jr and Mary Helen Fermental; a sister, Hope Fulmer; and a brother, Christopher Guidry.
Bill was an intelligent, quick-witted, and loving man of many talents.  He joined the Air Force
upon high school graduation, was stationed in Okinawa, and served in the Vietnam War in the
intelligence sector. He worked as a master mechanic most of his life and was proud to share his
knowledge of his trade with many others.  He loved his family and strove to provide for them
with his whole heart all of his life.
After his wife’s death, he found love again with his fiancé Laurel, with whom he shared the last
years of his life with.  He also loved spending time with his grandchildren, teaching them
anything and everything he could think of.  He was a man with a deep devotion to God who
raised his children to know and love God and he shared his own love of God with whomever
would listen.  When he wasn’t working, he found joy in tending his plentiful garden,
woodworking or tinkering around in his shop, or showing off his Cajun roots by cooking delicious
meals for those he loved.
Music was a part of his soul.  After learning to play guitar as a child, he went on to learn to play
the piano, harmonica, accordion, and many other instruments. He also played the organ and
sang in the choir at church. He enjoyed playing in his band with his friends, Danny Crochet and
Richard Baker, and they would play in the nursing homes for the residents’ enjoyment.
He will be remembered as a man who could always make someone smile with a joke, touch
someone’s heart with a song, and he brought others closer to God with his beautiful prayers.
He was a small town southern man whom God held a special place in Heaven for and he will be
missed by every heart he’s ever touched.  May he rest in eternal peace with our Lord, Jesus
Christ. He will remain in our hearts forever until God brings us together again.
David Funeral Home 1101 Trotter Street New Iberia, La 70563 (337) 369-6336 will be in charge
of the arrangements.
