Warren Charles Bacala was an encouraging, inspiring, selfless family man and a beaming, bright light to everyone he met. Warren found beauty in everything, and one of his favorite songs was “Don’t Worry Be Happy”. He was born and raised in Jenerette, where he holds records in Track and field. He even ran against Billy Cannon, the first Heisman trophy winner from LSU. His contagious energy touched people far and wide, with his loving attitude and his ability to make anyone laugh with his storytelling.
Warren served his country as a Marine during wartime as an aviation helicopter mechanic, which shaped his career working for Caterpillar and St. Mary Sugar. He was creative and could fix any piece of equipment. No task, project, or hobby was too big for him to handle. His ability to troubleshoot motors and diagnose issues won him the respect and honor of many. How many people do you know who are not doctors who carry a medical stethoscope to listen to engines and provide repair solutions?
Warren's love for the outdoors was evident in his life, always finding time for duck hunting, saltwater fishing, shrimping, crabbing, and just being on the water. He rebuilt and added to his camp at Cypremort Point many times following hurricanes; this camp was his pride and joy, and many fond memories were made there. He sought advice from many trades, but he always did the work himself. Warren never stopped learning and enjoyed complex projects.
Warren is survived by 3 of his children, Scott Bacala, Leslie Bacala Glenn, Christopher Bacala (Deidre); and, by his favorite child his fur baby “boss”; 7 grandchildren, Tyler Bergeron, Jacob Bergeron, Alex Bergeron, Hanna Howton (C.J.), Madison Glenn, Christopher Bacala, II, Charles “Charlie” Bacala; 5 great-grandchildren; siblings Josie Billadeau, Patricia Gail LeBlanc, Dianne B. Donahue, and Kevin Bacala (Katherine).
He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years Patricia Miguez Bacala; parents, Pascal C. and Agusta Boudreaux Bacala, one daughter, Angela Bergeron, and his son-in-law Danny Glenn.
