A Mass of Christian burial for Vivian Pontif Cancienne, 102, will be held Wednesday June 21, 2023 at 12:00 P.M. at St. Anne Catholic Church in Youngsville, with Father Michael Russo officiating.

Visitation will be held in St. Anne Catholic Church, Wednesday June 21, 2023 from 10:00 A.M. until time of services, with a Rosary recited at 11:30 A.M. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Thibodeaux LA.

Mrs. Vivian was a native of Assumption Parish and grew up and was schooled in Terrebonne Parish outside of Houma. She graduated from SLI now ULL in 1941. She taught school in both Terrebonne and Lafourche Parishes for a combined 27 years. In 2007 Vivian and her husband moved to Youngsville to be near their children. Vivian loved spending her time reading, and tending to her plants, and flowers. She passed away Thursday June, 15, 2023.

Vivian was survived by her children Elizabeth and her husband Alfred Webre of Youngsville, and Philip Cancienne III and his wife Gloria of Youngsville and Carol Cancienne and her partner Irene Bruce of Broussard. Vivian was also survived by her grandson Nicholas Webre.

Vivian was preceded in death by her husband Philip Cancienne Jr., her daughter Ellen, and her parents Oliver and Juliette Bourg Pontif. She was also predeceased by her siblings Hazel Chartier (Chuck), Alice Guidry (Maurice), Agnes Vice (Earl), Ned, Robert, George and John Pontif.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to EWTN or the St. Anne Expansion Fund.
