Trey Michael Romero

October 2, 1986 — October 16, 2024

New Iberia – Memorial Services for Trey Michael Romero, 38, who passed away on October 16, 2024 will be held at a later date.

Trey was a remarkable individual who’s warmth and spirit touched the lives of many. He was a brilliant mind in the field of logistics, known for both his intelligence and dedication to his work. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Trey was the life of every gathering, effortlessly lighting up the room with his infectious laughter and sharp wit. A true people person with a network of friends from Tampa, New Orleans, New Iberia, and everywhere in between, he never met a stranger. With his gift of stand-up comedy, he made it impossible not to be in good spirits when in his company.

A passionate sports fan, he proudly cheered for the Saints, The Pelicans and LSU, embodying the spirit of camaraderie and excitement that sports can bring. Mardi Gras was a favorite time of year for Trey, who embraced the festivities with enthusiasm. He was a foodie with a taste for down-home cooking and a fondness for his mother’s homemade banana cake. He also had a deep love for cooking, particularly known for his delicious meatball and potato stew, which became a staple among family and friends. During his time working in New Orleans at the world-famous K-Paul’s Louisiana Kitchen, he made many friends including the owner, Paul Prudhomme. Paul was so impressed with Trey that he personally autographed a cookbook for his mother, a gift she will cherish for the rest of her days.

Above all, Trey was the best son anyone could ask for. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of kindness, laughter and love will forever remain in our hearts.

He is survived by his mother, Sheila Berard Romero; a stepfather, Ricky Champagne; a brother, Luke Romero; a sister, Cali Romero; a paternal grandfather, James “Jimmy” Romero; a girlfriend, Megan Broussard; a life long best friend, Jonas Leger; three nieces, Alexis, Amelia and Kenli; and a nephew, Kylon.

He is preceded in death by his father, Chad J. Romero; his maternal grandparents, Calvin and Margie Berard; and a paternal grandmother, Lovell Romero.
