Jeanerette ~ Funeral Services will be held for Shirley Mae Gary Segura, 90, at 1:00PM on Thursday, October 24, 2024, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Father Paul Broussard officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00PM until 9:00PM on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at Frioux-David Funeral Home of Jeanerette, with a recitation of the rosary at 7:00PM by the Catholic Daughters Chapter 1353. Visitation will resume from 9:00AM until the time of services on Thursday, October 24, 2024, at Frioux-David Funeral of Jeanerette. Shirley Mae Gary Segura, a beloved wife, mother, and cherished friend, passed away at 6:27PM on Sunday, October 20, 2024, at Legacy Nursing Home of Franklin, leaving behind a legacy of love and devotion. Married to her husband for seventy-three wonderful years, Shirley exemplified the essence of partnership, supporting him for sixty-one years before his passing, through life’s joys and challenges. A passionate crocheter, Shirley created beautiful pieces that brought warmth to her family. She was also renowned for her culinary talents, delighting loved ones with her famous coconut cakes, decadent cheesecakes, and irresistible pralines. Her boiled seafood, especially crabs, was a cherished tradition that brought family together around the dinner table. In her younger days, Shirley loved to dance to French music, filling her home with laughter and joy. However, her greatest pride and joy came from being a mother. She often remarked that she would relive every moment of motherhood if given the chance again. Shirley’s spirit, creativity, and unwavering love will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Survivors include seven sons, Larry Segura, Steve Segura, Randy Segura, Sr. and his wife Veronica, Clarence Segura, Sr. and his wife Tonya, Lawrence Segura and his wife Ashley, Terry Segura and his wife Beth, and Bryan Segura, Sr. and his wife Tammy; two daughters, Glenda Babin and her husband Ricky, and Leona Segura; one brother, Vinton Gary, Sr. and his wife Juanita; one son-in-law, Joseph Babin, Sr.; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Willis John Segura; her parents, Leon and Ozile Romero Gary; three daughter-in-laws, Eula Segura, Brenda Segura, and Denise Segura; five brothers, Leonie Gary, Wilson Gary, Percy Gary, Joseph Gary, and Wilfred Gary; and one sister, Nola Touchet. Pallbearers will be Randy Segura, Sr., Terry Segura, Clarence Segura, Sr., Lawrence Segura, Lance Segura, Randy Segura, Jr., and Joshua Babin. Honorary pallbearers will be, Joseph Babin, Jr., Bryan Segura, Jr., Scotty Babin, Chad Kojak Segura, Dwight Segura, Clarence Segura, Jr., Derek Segura, Jacob Segura, and Jason Segura.
