Shirley was known for her love of cooking and baking and her desserts were always a highlight of any gathering. One of her most remarkable qualities was her ability to forge lifelong friendships. Once she made a friend, it was a bond that lasted a lifetime. Her warm and loving nature made her a cherished companion to many in Lafayette and San Antonio, where she had a wide circle of friends who will deeply miss her presence.
Traveling was another passion that Shirley wholeheartedly embraced. She had the opportunity to explore over 20 countries around the world. In addition to cooking, baking and traveling, Shirley had a zest for life and enjoyed the thrill of visiting the casino. Those who knew her remember her for being independent, generous, successful and kind.
She is survived by three sisters, Ethel Rodriguez and her husband Lawrence of Lafayette, Jenny Bateman of Houma and Joyce Gondron of Loreauville; four brothers, Clifton Gaudet of St. Martinville, Louis Gaudet and his wife Gayle of Lake Charles, Raymond Gaudet of Lafayette and Joseph Gaudet, Jr. and his wife Cindy of Broussard; a sister-in-law, Irmalene Gaudet; and numerous nieces and nephews.
