Russell James Romero, Sr.

LAFAYETTE-Funeral Services for Russell James Romero Sr.,69, will be at 2:00PM Thursday January 21,2021 at David Funeral Home of Lafayette with Deacon Cody Miller officiating. Interment will follow in St. Anne Cemetery.

Visitation will be at David Funeral Home of Lafayette Wednesday, January 20,2021 from 9:00 AM until 10:00 PM with recitation of the rosary at 7:00 PM. Visitation will resume Thursday January 21,2021 from 8:00 AM until service time.

Russell, born in Abbeville and a resident of Youngsville passed away Thursday, January 14,2021 at Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center. Spending time with his children and grandchildren was one of his biggest joys. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and mowing his lawn. He was a long-time member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a devoted husband, companion, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his companion Theresa Gary of Cade, his children Lucinda Romero and wife Michelle of Youngsville, Laura Romero Huval of Youngsville, Russell Romero Jr. and wife Jamie of Calhoun, Nathan Romero, and wife Cassie of Youngsville, Colbie Romero and companion Brittany of Youngsville, Gregory Eschete of Youngsville, his brothers Lawrence Romero, Gaylon Romero and Casey Romero, his sisters Betty Trimble, Cathy Trimble, Alberta Broussard, and Stacy Viator. He had 16 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Russell also had numerous nieces, nephews, and in-laws.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years Deborah Romero, his father Willis Romero and mother Laura Mae Romero.

The pallbearers will be Gregory Eschete, Mitchel Romero, Davin Romero, Chevy Romero, Jasper Melancon and Kyper Melancon. Honorary pallbearers are Rusty James Romero Jr., Nathan Willis Romero, Colbie James Romero, Wallace Navarre, Jammie Ballard, and Paul Babin.

We would like to thank the staff of Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center for their compassion and kindness during this difficult time.
