Russell Joseph Lester

LAFAYETTE- Celebration of Life Services for Russell J. Lester,79, will be on Thursday, June 24, 2021, at 1:30PM at David Funeral Home of Lafayette. Interment will follow at Holy Family Cemetery in New Iberia.

Visitation will be at David Funeral Home of Lafayette Thursday from 11:30AM until service time.

Russell passed away Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at Carpenter House of Lafayette. He enjoyed keeping abreast of current events by reading the Acadiana Advocate newspaper daily. He enjoyed fishing and spending time outdoors. He enjoyed family get togethers with food especially with oysters as they were his favorite. He loved to talk to people making new friends along the way and telling stories about his time as a New Orleans policeman.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon Migues Lester of Broussard, his mother, Leona Breaux Lester of Metairie, his children, Russell Lester Jr. and wife Maria of Brashear, TX, Angel Lester Smyth of Hammond, Michael Lester and wife Tammy of Holden, step children, Kevin Mendoza and wife Claudette of Friendswood, TX, Kristi Mendoza Breaux and husband Mallory of Coteau, a brother, Gerald Lester and wife Kay of Metairie, grandchildren, Trey, Kayleigh, Anthony, Drew, Dalton, Gage, Ben, M.J. and Evelyn, a step grandson, Ian.

He is preceded in death by his father, Andrew Lester.

Serving as his Pallbearers will be Kevin Mendoza, Russell Lester Jr., Trey Lester, Anthony Lester, Drew Lester and Gerald Lester.
