Ruby Connor Underwood

Erath - A Time of Remembrance for Mrs. Ruby Connor Underwood, 78, will be held at 12:00PM on Friday, October 8, 2021at David Funeral Home Chapel of Erath.  Interment will follow at LeBlanc Cemetery.

Visitation will be at David Funeral Home of Erath on Thursday, October 7, 2021 from 10:00AM until 10:00PM.  Visitation will resume on Friday, October 8, 2021 from 8:00AM until the time of the services.

A native of Henry and a longtime resident of Erath, Mrs. Underwood died at 1:00PM on Thursday, September 30, 2021 at Abbeville General Hospital.  Mrs. Ruby was a spirited person who overcame many adversities in her life.  She loved holidays, especially Christmas, she loved to see the joy on people faces as they opened the gifts she had bought them.

She is survived by a son, Lloyd Gray and his wife Tammy of Abbeville; nine daughters, Eloise Caldwell and her husband Steven of Erath, Theresa Wooten and her husband Lawrence of Memphis, TN, Shirley Balog of Saucier, MS, Mary Verrett and her husband Gary of Erath, Brenda Hebert and her husband Carrol of Perkinston, MS, Ivy Mackowiak and her husband Stephen of Youngsville, Angela Birdwell and her husband Jeremy of Abbeville, Norma Skidmore and her husband Jonny of Colorado Springs, CO, and Goldie Istre and her husband Mike of Kaplan; twenty-nine Grandchildren, sixty-three great grandchildren, and ten great great grandchildren; and a great granddog, Spike.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Underwood; her parents, Erista and Adelaide Faulk Connor; and a special friend, Sidney Billiot.

Serving as pallbearers will be Joseph Suire, Phillip Suire, Anthony Suire, Bowie Hebert, Logan Boudreaux, and Jeremy Birdwell.

Serving as Honorary Pallbearer will be Carrol Hebert, Stephen Mackowiak, Steve Caldwell, Gary Verret.

To help the community stay safe we will honor the August 1, 2021 Louisiana Mandates.  All families and their guests are required to wear a face-covering while at the funeral home and church. Thank you for your understanding during this unprecedented time.
