Rowena C. Borel

November 3, 1929 — December 31, 2023

Loreauville–A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for Rowena Borel, age 94, on Thursday, January 4, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Barry Crochet officiating. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., and resume on Thursday, January 4, 2024, at 8:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. A Rosary will be prayed in the funeral home on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m.

Rowena, and her late husband, Emus, owned and operated Thrifty Shop Grocery in Loreauville for over 23 years. They enjoyed traveling together and spending time with family and friends. Rowena was an avid gardener and poet.  She loved the Christmas season, spending time in Arkansas, and hosting family gatherings. Her cheerful disposition and smile will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by one sister, Loretta Verret, and her children: Hansel Borel and his wife Darlene, Basil Borel and his wife Gail, Phil Borel and his wife Rhonda, Max Borel and his wife Monica, Chad Borel, Trini Foti, and her husband Carlo, all of Loreauville. She is also survived by her Grandchildren: Trisha, Dylan, Amy, Beau, Toni, BJ, Becky, Chuck, Jacob, Jim, Mel, Fallon, Shelby, Jewel, Julien, Ruby, Lucy, and Anthony.  And, her dear friend and caregiver, Lisa Braquet Pastor.

Great-grandchildren; Tristan, Logan, Kallan, Nathan, Amelie, Beau, Caleb, Bean, Henri, Iris, Opal, Chyanne, Genie, Olive, Caroline, Margaret, Wells, Henry, and Owen, and Great Great-Grandchild, Braxton Cash.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony Chataignier and Rita Broussard Chataignier; husband, Emus James Borel, and her daughter, Gwindl Ann Borel.

Serving as pallbearers will be her Grandsons: Dylan, Beau, BJ, Chuck, Jacob, Jim, and Julien Borel.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be her sons; Hansel, Basil, Phil, Chad, Max, and her son-in-law, Carlo Foti.

The family would like to thank Heart of Hospice staff members for the kindness and support they shared with the Borel family.
