Rose Bernard Ste. Marie

Surrounded by her loving family, Mrs. Rose Bernard Ste. Marie passed away on Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at the age of 95.  Mrs. Rose was humble in nature, a loving mother, and a woman of faith. Born and raised in Broussard, Mrs. Rose served her community and her beloved Sacred Heart Catholic Church. During her long life Mrs. Rose held the chair as the first Councilwoman for the City of Broussard. She was part of the Ladies Altar Society and a member of the church choir at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Mrs. Rose had a lifelong involvement in the Broussard Community Church Fair, where she and her sisters provided locally-famous "Loose Meat Sandwiches."  She retired after working over thirty years at St. Cecilia Catholic School. Mrs. Rose had a green thumb, loved gardening, but most of all enjoyed spending time with her siblings and family. She was best known for her laugh, her joy for life, and her fighting spirit.

She is survived by her seven children, Suzanne Landry and her husband Richard, Stephanie Boumans, Guy Ste. Marie and his wife Sharyl, Mark Ste. Marie and his wife Cindy, Perry Ste. Marie and his wife Paige, Denise Hebert and her husband Jay, and one daughter-in-law, Maria Ste. Marie. Additionally, her legacy includes 23 grandchildren; 66 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Ray Ste. Marie; one son, Ray James Ste. Marie; her parents, Dennis and Nina Bernard; one brother, L.D. Bernard; and six sisters, Gertrude Duhon, Nina Suru, Agnes Girouard, Alene Duhon, Betty Girouard, and Louise Girouard.

Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons Craig Landry, Kerry Boumans, Dominique Ste. Marie, Andrew Hebert, Tyler Thompson, Jase Simon, and Scott Ste. Marie.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons Jason Landry, Aaron Landry, Bryan Ste. Marie, Timothy Ste. Marie, and Michael Ste. Marie.

The arrangements are as follows:

Broussard ~ A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Rose Bernard Ste. Marie will be held at 1:00PM on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Michael Delcambre officiating. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at David Funeral Home of Lafayette on Saturday, August 24, 2024, beginning at 9:00AM until the time of service, with a recitation of the rosary at 11:00AM.
