New Iberia– A celebration of life will be conducted for Robert “Bobby” Burke, Jr., age 65, on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at David Funeral Home of New Iberia with Pastor Kevin Rowe officiating the service.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
Mr. Robert “Bobby” Burke Jr. Passed away peacefully at Banner University Hospital in Tucson Arizona on August 15, 2023. He was born on May 25, 1958, in New Iberia and resided in Benson, AZ.
Robert was an avid Saints fan who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and telling old trucking stories (even though he told you that story time and time again) from his 34 years of truck driving.
Robert is survived by his sons Ryan Burke (Chelsie) of New Iberia, and Brady Burke of New Iberia. Grandchildren Avery Claire Burke and Payten James Burke of New Iberia. Sisters Sandra Burke Rich (Jimmie Howard) of Woodville, Ms. Marlene Burke Bellard of Melbourne, Fl. Hattie Burke Moore (Charles Moore) of New Iberia, Patty Burke Byrd of Shertz, TX. Brothers Richard Charles Burke of New Iberia. Cliffard Thomas Burke of New Iberia, La. August James Burke (Cornelia Gayle Zelenuk Burke) of Arlington, Tx. Mark Anthony Burke (Jeanette Rogers Burke) of New Iberia. Friends Dallas & April Stark of Benson, AZ.
Robert is preceded in death by his Paternal grandparents Auguste Bourque (Burke) & Eva Mae Domingue Bourque (Burke). Maternal grandparents Zepherine Joseph Pete & Elda Marie Ronsonet Pete Tortamus. Parents Robert Burke Sr. and Doris Cecelia Pete Burke; Siblings, his infant brothers, Robert Joseph Burke, and Glenn Patrick Burke. Sister Susan Marie Burke Renard. Sisters-in-law Sharon Spivey Burke, Debbie B. Burke.
Honorary pallbearers will be Howard Viator, Dean Nolan, Scott Callahan, Ryan Burke, Brady Burke, Dallas Stark, and Payten Burke.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the medical staff at Banner University for the care and comfort provided during Robert’s stay.
A memorial service for Robert will be held at David Funeral Home followed by a Last Ride Trucker Procession.
