Erath ~ A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Mr. Rixby James Menard, 73, at 1:00PM, on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Erath with Father Clinton Sensat officiating.
Visitation will begin at 9:00AM, on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at Frioux-David Funeral Home of Erath and continue until the time of service. A Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 11:00AM.
Mr. Rixby James Menard, a dedicated and hardworking individual, passed away on March 21, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of passion for both his country and the great outdoors. He served honorably in the Army National Guard for six years, where he worked as a Wheel Vehicle Mechanic and earned the qualification of M16 Sharpshooter. His time in service reflected his strong work ethic, precision, and commitment to his duties. Outside of his military service, Mr. Menard was an avid outdoorsman who found joy in nature. He was known for his love of yardwork, where he could often be found cultivating beautiful flowers with his green thumb, as well as enjoying deer and turkey hunting, and both fresh and saltwater fishing.
In addition to his love for nature, Mr. Menard had a variety of skills that demonstrated his versatility and creativity. He had a talent for woodworking, crafting beautiful and functional pieces, and was even skilled in taxidermy, preserving the memories of his outdoor adventures. His hands-on approach to life was evident in everything he did, from his military service to his personal hobbies. Rixby James Menard will be remembered for his dedication, his love of the outdoors, and his ability to create and preserve beauty in both nature and craftsmanship.
Mr. Rixby James Menard is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ruth Broussard Menard; two sons, Dominic Menard and his wife Tara of Delcambre, and Daniel Menard and his wife Lacey of Parks; two daughters, Jill Romero and her husband Devon of Erath, and Jenny Menard of Abbeville; one brother, David Menard of Breaux Bridge; two sisters, Judy Courville of Breaux Bridge and Rickey Menard of Breaux Bridge; nine grandchildren, Kaitlyn Vincent and her husband Wyatt of Delcambre, Amanda Bourque and her husband Dylan of Youngsville, Tristin Menard and his wife Natalie of Delcambre, Rani Menard of Delcambre, Seth Romero of Erath, Miley Romero of Erath, Owen Romero of Erath, Evin Menard of Parks, and Bruce Romero of Erath; one great-grandchild, Oakley Ruth Bourque of Youngsville; and two great-grandchildren on the way.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Theodore Menard and Ozite Romero Menard.
Pallbearers will be David Menard, Tristin Menard, Seth Romero, Dominic Menard, Daniel Menard, and Anthony Menard.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Devon Romero, Owen Romero, Evin Menard, and Bruce Romero.
Frioux-David Funeral Home of Erath will be handling the arrangements.
