Rita Lewis

Funeral Services for Mrs. Rita Lewis, 88, will be held at Round Hill Cemetery Chapel, Elizabeth, PA on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at 1:30PM with Pastor Benjamin Schneider officiating.  Interment will follow at Round Hill Cemetery.

Born May 15, 1933, McKeesport, Pennsylvania, Rita was a stay-at-home, loving mother who encouraged her children to be strong and independent.  She endured a very harsh life growing up as a child including having had polio.  In spite of all of her hardships during her lifetime, she was still able to make her home a loving one.  Rita was a past member of First Presbyterian Church in Clairton, PA.   She was also a member and Deacon of The First Presbyterian Church of Elizabeth in Elizabeth, PA.  Rita loved being involved in her church, as a cook for many years, as well as a volunteer decorating or collecting for church functions and/or for charities.

She is survived by her children, Aritha M. Lewis and her husband Bryce of Lafayette, LA, and Terry Edward Lewis and his wife Annette of Duncansville, PA; her daughter-in-law, Susie Lewis of California; her 7 grandchildren; her 3 step grandchildren; and many great grandchildren.

Proceeded in death by her husband of 65 years: James R. Lewis; her mother, Sarah Agnes O’Leary (Bowers) Lewis; her father Martin Elroy Bowers, Sr.; her sister, Sarah Rose (Bowers) Kertis; her brothers, Martin Bowers, Jr. and Sam Bowers; her son, James Richard Lewis; and her grandson, Bryce James Lewis.
