New Iberia- A Memorial Service for Rene Koch Theall, 67, will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany in New Iberia. Entombment will be held in Rosehill Cemetery immediately following the service. A Celebration of her life will be held following the services at the Veteran’s Memorial Building in City Park. Rene died May 14 in Austin, Texas.
She is survived by her son, Brennan Oubre, and daughter-in-law, Bojana, of Houston, Texas; daughter, Keisha Oubre, of Loreauville, and daughter, Emily Sciortino, and son-in-law, Todd, of Austin, Texas; and step-daughter Angel Hardgroder and her husband John “Curt” of New Iberia. Her grandchildren are Bianca and Brock Oubre of Houston, Trey Oubre of Las Vegas, Kaylee and Brianna Oubre of New Iberia and Gianna and Eliana Sciortino of Austin. Jayden Bourque is her great-grandson. Step-grandchildren are Seth, Lauren, Alex and Jacob Hardgroder and step great-grandchildren are Zena, Addilyn, Hensley, Harper and Lilly. Survivors also include her brothers, Robert Koch Jr. (JoAnn) and Steve Koch (Janet); her life partner Calvin Etie; her aunts, Mildred Estis and Jessie Lou Dunnack; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a wealth of friends.
Rene was born December 18, 1953, the middle child and only daughter of Yvonne Badeaux Koch and Noel Robert Koch Sr. Although she resided in Texas at the time of her death, New Iberia was always home and she embraced the joie de vivre of Acadiana. She was a 1972 graduate of New Iberia Senior High and a lifelong member of the Episcopal Church. She was an active supporter of the music industry of South Louisiana.
