Pierre Vergie Hebert

Lafayette – Funeral Services for Mr. Pierre Vergie Hebert, 88, will be held at 10:30AM on Thursday, January 19, 2023 at David Funeral Home of Lafayette with Father Ed Degeyter officiating.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 from 2:00PM until 9:00PM with a recitation of the rosary at 6:30PM. Visitation will resume Thursday, January 19, 2023 at 8:00AM until the time of service.

A native and lifelong resident of Youngsville, Pierre retired from General Office Supply with 42 years of service as a typewriter technician. He loved being on his riding lawn mower cutting his grass and sitting on the back patio watching the hummingbirds. He liked to crab and cook up a crab stew for the family. He traveled and saw the country and enjoyed going on cruises with his wife. His advice was always “Travel and do it while you still can.” In his earlier days, he had a passion for growing rose bushes where he grew some gorgeous roses. He was known as “Daddy” to his children and “Paw” to his seven grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Joan V. Hebert; his two daughters, Rose Stoute (Chris) and Robin Broussard (Ponookie); a sister, Eula Hebert; his grandchildren, Danielle Stutes (Matt), Ashli Trahan (Donel), Alexis Desormeaux (Shayne), Laine Stoute (Taylor), Marcus Hebert and Kaynie Lyons; 15 great-grandchildren; a godchild, Vickie Boutte; and his many in-laws, nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Altha and Elus P. Hebert; his sons, Bill, Doc and Mark Hebert; a daughter-in-law, Melinda Hebert; and a sister, Hilda Broussard.

Serving as pallbearers will be Marcus Hebert, Laine Stoute, Matt Stutes, Colin Stutes, Zayn Randolph, and Shayne Desormeaux.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Kamryn Wright, Chris Stoute, Ponookie LaCroix, Dan Burnett and Donel Trahan.

The family would like to thank the amazing staff at Our Lady of Lourdes 4 ^th and 5 ^th floor, AMG 4 ^th floor,  staff of Carpenter House, St. Joseph Hospice, especially Janet Darby Batiste and Skyler Broussard; and a very special thank you to his care giver Kisha Broussard for the wonderful care he received during his illness.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Joseph Hospice.
