Loreauville– A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for Mr. Percy J. Segura, age 78, on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Fr. Barry Crochet as Celebrant. Entombment will follow at All Saints Mausoleum.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, from 8:00 a.m. until time of service at 3:00 p.m. A Rosary will be prayed in the funeral home on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at 10:30 a.m.
A native and resident of New Iberia, Percy J. Segura passed away on Friday, November 17, 2023, peacefully at his residence surrounded by his family.
Mr. Percy J. Segura, a devoted family man and proud Navy veteran, passed away peacefully at the age of 78. Born with an indomitable spirit on July 20, 2023, he dedicated a significant part of his life in service to his country, notably as a valiant participant in the Vietnam War. Mr. Segura served honorably aboard the USS Hornet, contributing to crucial missions, including the recovery of the Apollo 12 space capsule and its crew—an accomplishment that marked a pivotal moment in space exploration.
Beyond his military service, Percy's heart belonged to his family. He married the love of his life, the former Cheryl Ann Laviolette and they remained married for 44 years till her passing in 2015. He leaves behind a legacy of love and commitment, survived by his beloved children, 15 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. His passion for family extended to the community, where he spent his spare time coaching various sports and actively participating in local organizations such as the Knights of Columbus. An avid enthusiast of NASCAR racing, freshwater fishing, and yard work, Percy J. Segura will be remembered not only for his bravery in the line of duty but also for the warmth and joy he brought to the lives of those around him. May he rest in peace, his memory cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Percy J. Segura is survived by three children, Lynette Badeaux (Jason), Troy Segura (Renee’), Benjamin “Benji” Segura (Jennifer); 15 grandchildren, Kelbie Badeaux, Cole Badeaux, Kaden Badeaux, Cora Thibodeaux Lancon (Nick), Hannah Segura, Nicholas Segura, Sadie LeBlanc, Katie LeBlanc, Hunter LeBlanc, Alex Segura, Quinton Hull, Tia Breaux, Vaughn Segura, Baylee Trahan, Brealynn Trahan; great-grandchildren, Mason Lancon, Charlie Lancon, Dawson Lasseigne; siblings, Lynn Segura (Brenda), Ronnie Segura (Tina), and sister-in-law, Kathy Segura.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Cheryl “Te-Ta” Ann Laviolette Segura; parents, Alton Segura, and the former Lois Bodin; one sibling, Kenny Segura.
Honored to serve as Pallbearers are Cole Badeaux, Kaden Badeaux, Nicholas Segura, Hunter LeBlanc, Alex Segura, and Nick Lancon.
Honored to serve as Honorary Pallbearers are Vaughn Segura, Quinton Hull, Benjamin “Benji” Segura, Troy Segura, and Jason Badeaux.
