A native of Jeanerette and resident of Lafayette, Pamela passed away on Wednesday April 17, 2024, at 7:01 PM at the age of 65 years. She will be dearly missed by all who loved her. Pamela was born on August 8th, 1958, in New Iberia, LA. She attended and graduated from St. Joseph Catholic School in Jeanerette. A member of Sigma Tau Delta Honor Society, she earned a bachelor’s degree of arts in English/Journalism from the University of Southwestern Louisiana in 1980. After graduating from USL, she began a long and successful career in Human Resources. Pamela was a faithful Roman Catholic with a strong devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the Blessed Virgin Mary, and the Holy Rosary. As a young woman she developed a passion for writing and poetry. Recently, serving as a member of the Board of Directors of The Writer’s Guild of Acadiana, she continued her love for writing. She loved watching her grandchildren play at sporting events. Celebrating holidays and playing cards or board games with her family gave her much joy. Her love for Christmas decorations was so great that in her later years she kept them up perpetually. Pamela will be remembered as a hard worker, a master organizer, and loyal friend.
Pamela is survived by her husband of 43 years, David Harrington; two sons, Joshua Harrington, and his wife Elizabeth, and Alexander “Max” Harrington; a daughter, Stephanie Mitchell, and her husband Daniel; four grandchildren, Zachary Harrington, Lucas Harrington, Genevieve “Vivi” Mitchell and Emily Mitchell; a brother, Roy Dodson; and her in-laws, Richard and Lorraine Pepper.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Marine Broussard Dodson and her grandmother Adolcina Trosclaire Broussard.
Honored to serve as Pallbearers are Alexander “Max” Harrington, Jude Broussard, Kyle Robin, Corey Degetaire, Zachary Harrington, and Lucas Harrington.
The family extends their sincere appreciation to the staff at Our Lady of Lourdes Heart Hospital. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that Masses be offered for the repose of her soul.
