Jeanerette–A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for Olive B. Bodin, age 89, on Friday, December 27, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Fr. Alexander Albert as Celebrant. Entombment will at St. John the Evangelist Mausoleum.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 27, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. A Rosary will be prayed in the funeral home at 12:00 p.m. on Friday prior to Funeral Mass at 1:00 p.m.
Olive was a native and lifelong resident of Jeanerette, La. She was a homemaker and worked for Milliard Mannina Refinery for 20 years.
Olive loved to journal and travel. She traveled with a group of friends that called themselves the “Cajun Queens” for many years.
When not working in her flower beds or sewing, she often spent weekends on Lake Fausse Point at their family camp.
Olive was a devout Catholic and member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church her entire life. She prayed the rosary daily for years and was a weekly member of the Blessed Sacrament in Adoration.
Olive was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Olive B. Bodin is survived by her children, Ward Bodin (Arleen) of Jeanerette, Mary “Sue” Legnon (Ted) of Youngsville, Kathy Bordelon (Rocky) Fayette, Al., Wally Bodin (Laurie) of Jeanerette, Kyle Bodin (Heather) of New Iberia; one sister, Janice Landry (Charles) of Kingsport, TN.; grandchildren, Jennifer Wiggins, Virginia Rudd, Jason Legnon, Cameron Bodin, Amanda Bodin; great-grandchildren, Katelyn Wiggins, Luke Wiggins, Devin Rudd, Abby Legnon, Lola Legnon, Amarylys Bodin, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Wallace Bodin; parents, Dennis, and Cecile Chastant Bouy; siblings, Robert “Bob” Bouy, and Benny Bouy.
Honored to serve as Pallbearers are Ward Bodin, Wally Bodin, Kyle Bodin, Cameron Bodin, Jason Legnon, and Micah King.Honored to serve as Horary Pallbearers are Rocky Bordelon, Ted Legnon, and John Boudreaux, Sr.
The family would like to thank The Landmark of Acadiana for the care she received in the last three years, Mel Coleman of Hope Hospice, Caregivers Cynthia Muffoletto and Leonia Wiley, and special nurses Tamika, Donna, Shiniel, Mindy, and Aaron for the daily care they provided. Special thanks to her long-time neighbors, Karen and John Boudreaux Sr. and Mike and Debbie O’Donnell.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Jeanerette or St. Jude’s Hospital for Children.
