Lafayette ~ A Graveside Service for Mr. Neil Christopher Simon, 53, will be held at 2:00PM, on Monday, January 6, 2025, at Sacred Heart Catholic Mausoleum with Deacon Ken David officiating.
Our family is shocked and saddened by the sudden passing of Neil. He was much too young to be taken from us. Neil could light up any room with his big smile. He was a man of great intellect. His sharp wit and quick thinking made him the smartest person in the room, a distinction that his family and friends always took great joy in testing. He also possessed a deep respect and love for all animals, often going out of his way to care for creatures of all kinds. He was a collector and an avid card player. Neil loved nothing more than the warmth of family, paired with a delicious meal. He especially loved his mother’s Mexican chicken and lasagna. He always looked forward to his family’s annual beach trip each summer. Neil was also a passionate music lover. He taught himself how to play the guitar at an early age and could play any song by ear. In addition to his many passions, Neil was a good and proud son, brother, and uncle. He will be forever missed.
Neil is survived by his parents, Sharon and Gary Newman of Broussard; two sisters, Jacy Guidry and her husband Rocky of Lafayette, and Natalie Valdes and her husband John of Fort Lauderdale; two half-sisters, Amy Frisby and Rachael Turner; two nephews, Michael LeBlanc and Benjamin Valdes; one niece, Emmy LeBlanc; many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends; and his biological father, Michael Simon.
Frioux-David Funeral of Lafayette will be handling the arrangements. 316 Youngsville Hwy. Lafayette, LA 70508 (337) 837-9887
