New Iberia– Known to many as Ms. Nancy, Nancy Lee Mary David Sherman passed away Thursday, October 13, 2022, peacefully at her home. In keeping with her wishes, no funeral services will be held. Nancy was born to Randy and Lula Mae Peltier David on December 2, 1945. After high school, she joined the United States Navy and proudly served her country. During this time, she met her husband, Bill. Nancy left the Navy after four years of service to marry and raise their daughter. After many years of travel, they settled in New Iberia, opening Sherman’s Locksmith, which served Iberia Parish for 27 years. Mrs. Sherman also spent time as a teacher at Anderson Junior High. She loved interacting with her students and many of them remember her fondly years later. Nancy was known to tell a good story and for her sense of humor. She was loved by family and friends and will be dearly missed. Surviving members of the family include her daughter, Angelina Sherman Latiolais and husband Gregory of Rayne; one granddaughter, Isabel Latiolais; two sisters, Pam Crochet and her husband, Malcolm Crochet of New Iberia and Linda Hood and her husband, Mitch Hood, of Franklin; one brother, Randall David and his wife, Janice, of Tomball, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Randy David and Lula Mae Peltier David, her former husband, William ‘Bill’ Sherman, and her partner of many years, Frank ‘Rick’ Ford.
