Myrtis Louise Abshire LeBlanc, age 82, of the Charogne Community north of Erath, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2025, at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. Born on November 28, 1942, in Abbeville, Louisiana. Myrtis lived a life filled with warmth, kindness, and devotion to those she loved.
Myrtis was the beloved daughter of Avery & Loula Marie Abshire and grew up in Kaplan, Louisiana. She married her cherished husband, Joseph Elmo LeBlanc, on June 10th, 1961, and together they built a life rooted in love and family.
A dedicated homemaker, Myrtis, was known for her commitment to her family and community. She played an instrumental role in supporting her husband, Elmo LeBlanc, during his 26 years serving as constable of Vermilion Parish, faithfully attending conferences and community events by his side with grace and warmth. Deeply rooted in her faith, she was an active member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Erath, Louisiana, where she contributed to the parish’s mission for decades. After her husband’s passing in 1992, Myrtis faced the challenges of living alone with resilience, finding solace in her faith by attending religious conferences and retreats with her sisters and friends. She delighted in sewing, challenging herself with crossword puzzles and word searches, and relaxing with a good book.
Myrtis is survived by her children: her son, Brent LeBlanc (Stacy), her son, Steven LeBlanc (Manique), and her daughter, Patricia LeBlanc McLeod (Don). She is also survived by her grandchildren: Tiffany LeBlanc Meaux (Erik), Mark LeBlanc Jr., Elmo LeBlanc, Carey LeBlanc (Holly), Ashley LeBlanc, Kyle LeBlanc (Stephonnie), Victoria LeBlanc Richard (Seth), Alexander LeBlanc (Lindsey), Anne LeBlanc Lamotte (Bennett), Nicholas LeBlanc, Colton McLeod, Jackson McLeod, and 12 great-grandchildren, and daughter-in-law, Donna H LeBlanc.
She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph LeBlanc, in 1992; her sons, Mark LeBlanc Sr. and an infant son; her granddaughter, Alexandra LeBlanc; and her parents.
The family welcomes friends and loved ones to share memories and celebrate Myrtis’s life.
Honored to serve as Pallbearers are Mark LeBlanc, Jr., Carey LeBlanc, Elmo LeBlanc, Alexander LeBlanc, Bennett LaMotte, and Seth Richard.
