Lafayette–A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for Myra Olivier, age 83, on Monday, October 28, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Fr. Keith Landry as Celebrant. Entombment will follow at Sacred Heart Mausoleum. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 28, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 p.m.
Myra Anne Broussard Olivier was born February 26, 1941. She passed away peacefully on October 21, 2024, at her residence surrounded by family. A native of New Iberia, Louisiana, Myra was one of five children, to the union of Walter Broussard Sr. and Essie Fontenot Broussard. Myra married her life partner, whom together they raised two children. Myra cherished her relationships with her close friends, all of her grandchildren and her great-grandchild.
Myra was a licensed practical nurse, until she found her passion for providing guidance as a counselor. She was employed by the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Department and Vermillion Parish Sheriff's Department until her retirement from the State of Louisiana and General Health System.
Myra is survived by her children, Pamela A. Olivier of Lafayette, LA, and Barry J. Olivier (Angel) of New Iberia; three grandchildren, Christian E. Olivier (Sarah) of Nashville, TN., Jayden A. Childers and Jamal D. Childers of Lafayette, LA; one great grandchild, Maxwell E. Olivier of Nashville, TN.; one sister Lynn Broussard of Denver, CO; one brother Walter Broussard Jr (Patricia) of Denver, CO: as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and most loyal friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years Alvin Olivier Jr., her parents, Walter Broussard Sr. and Essie Broussard, her brother, Morris Broussard Sr., her sister, Catherine Buckner, nephews, Murphy J. “Jody” Olivier Jr., and Herman “Gerald” Olivier Jr. Honored to serve as Pallbearers are Jamal Childers, Jayden Childers, Christian Olivier, Gerald Michael Olivier Jr., Barry Olivier, and Michael Broussard.
The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice of Acadiana for their kindness and support. A special thanks to Tamiko Cook, Patricia Ledet, Wendy Morgan and Pamela Olivier for the daily care and support provided through her journey.
