Michael Louie Legnon

Lafayette – A Mass of Christian Burial for Michael Louie Legnon, 76, will be held at 2:00PM on Friday, June 28, 2024, at St. Pius X Catholic Church with Fr. James Brady officiating. Inurnment will follow at Sacred Heart Mausoleum.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will begin at 12:00PM at David Funeral Home of Lafayette on Friday, June 28, 2024, with a recitation of the rosary at 12:45PM.

Mike was a man who had a large presence and lived his life anticipating his next great adventure. He had great faith in the Holy Eucharist, was a loyal friend to a close-knit group of friends who loved him dearly and was always true to his word. He was a competitive athlete in his youth, a family man and beloved father. He was also a loving husband to his wife, Dianne, in the winter of his life. He spent his career days as a successful salesman employed in the oil industry. He was an outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, and camping. He traveled far and wide kayaking, hiking, camping, motorcycle riding or cruising. He was a talented craftsman and a creative individual. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Dianne Dempsey Legnon of Lafayette;  twin sons, Chris Legnon and his wife Michelle of Baton Rouge, La, and Steve Legnon and his wife Mandi of McKinney, Tx; a step-daughter, Amy Dempsey Tate and her husband John of Santa Rosa, Fl; six grandchildren, Ashley, Kimberley, Braden, Lilly, Beau, and Lucy; one great-grandchild, Hayes; two sisters, Liz Legnon Buteau and her husband Steve, and Mary Jumonville and her husband David; two brothers, Joey Legnon and his wife Melanie, and Johnny Legnon;  three aunts; numerous nieces and nephews; and the mother of his twin boys.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Junius and Lauriel Merceron Legnon.
