Erath- Funeral Services for Mazel Broussard, 83, will be held at David Funeral Home of Erath on Saturday, August 27, 2022 at 11:30AM with Chaplain Sharon Russo officiating. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Lourdes Mausoleum.

Visitation will be held at David Funeral Home of Erath on Saturday from 9AM until time of services.

A native of Abbeville, LA, Mrs. Mazel passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2022. She enjoyed a 20 year career in nursing and retired from the VA Hospital, in Biloxi, MS. Gardening, cooking, crocheting, dancing to cajun music, and spending time with her family were some of the things she enjoyed most in her life.  The years spent on their family farm in Hazlehurst, MS allowed her to love and delight in raising cattle, riding horses, duck hunting, picking blackberries, and raising her 4 children. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Hazlehurst, MS.

She is survived by her sons, Lonnie Lee and his wife Debbie of Brandon, MS, and Brady Lee and his wife Sheryl of Amite, LA; her daughters, Karen Buford and her husband Tim of Plano, TX, and Mitzi Derouen and her husband Randy of Broussard, LA; stepdaughter Myra DiGange and her husband Charlie of Madisonville, LA; her grandchildren, Aaron Lee, Louis Lee, and Taylor Lee; her 6 great grandchildren; her sister, Carrie Suire of Forked Island, LA; and her beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph J. Broussard; her parents, Theodore Broussard and Lilly Stelly Broussard; her brothers, Louis “Black” Broussard, Galton Broussard, Claude Broussard, and Clayton Broussard, Sr.; her sisters, Willa Mae Landry, and Edna Roy; and her beloved poodle, Pete.

The Broussard family would like to extend a special thank you to her compassionate caregivers at Traditions Health Hospice and Mason Du Monde Nursing Home.
