Marlene Ruth Chambliss

Lafayette- A Celebration of Life will be held for Marlene Ruth Guthrie Chambliss, 83, at David Funeral Home of Lafayette on Saturday, January 14, 2023 from 11:00AM until 2:00PM. A native of Muskegon, Michigan and a resident of Youngsville, Mrs. Marlene passed away on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center. She was a devoted housewife and mother and always cared for her three sons. Mrs. Marlene loved spending time with her family. In her younger years she loved painting and creating copper and aluminum art work. Mrs. Marlene loved music and playing her piano and organ. She is survived by her three sons; John Bates and his wife, Rachel, of Broussard, Gregory Scott Bates of Birmingham, AL, and Mark C. Bates of Chesterfield, Virgina; five grandchildren; Benjamin, Brandon, Sheldon, Colton, and Amanda; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Loyal S. Guthrie and Joanna Catherine Holman Guthrie; and one brother Robert L. Guthrie. David Funeral Home of Lafayette at 316 Youngsville Hwy (337) 837-9887 is in charge of the arrangements.
