New Iberia– Funeral services will be conducted for Maretha D Comeaux, 68, on Sunday, September 8, 2024, at 3:00PM at David Funeral Home of New Iberia.

Visitation will be held at David Funeral Home of New Iberia on Sunday, September 8, 2024, from 11:00AM until time of service.

Ms. Maretha Comeaux, a cherished mother, grandmother, and avid adventurer, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 2, 2024, in Hoonah, Alaska, leaving behind a legacy of love and joy. Born with a passion for life, Maretha was a seasoned traveler who embraced the world with her beloved companion Elias by her side. Her heart was deeply connected to her family, and she adored spending time with her children and grandchildren. A lover of nature, Maretha found solace in tending to her potted plants and reveled in the beauty of the outdoors. Her fondness for hummingbirds and her adventurous spirit reflected her vibrant and nurturing personality. Maretha’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who were touched by her warmth and enthusiasm.

She is survived by her companion, Elias Landry of New Iberia; her five children; Raymond Comeaux Jr., Tabatha Comeaux, Jamie Comeaux, Jermaine Comeaux, and Christy Comeaux; five step-children; Jeri Provost, Christopher Landry, Lena Najera, Zachary Landry, and Andy Landry; nine grandchildren; seventeen step-grandchildren; two sisters; Andrea Floris and Elizabeth Rodrigue; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Andrus Duhon and Nelvie Louise Leblanc Duhon; a brother; Allen Duhon; a sister; Sharlene Duhon; a niece; Jenny Gary; and a great-nephew; Matthew Gary.

The family would like to thank the emergency medical personnel in Hoonah, Alaska for their care of Ms. Maretha.
