New Iberia- A Mass of Christian Burial for Ms. Lucille Jeffery, 84, will be held at St. Peter Catholic Church on Friday, February 21, 2025 at 10:00AM with Rev. David Furka officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Family Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at St. Peter Catholic Church on Friday, February 21, 2025 from 9:00AM until time of services.

It is with deep sorrow and gratitude for her life that we announce the passing of Ms. Lucille Jeffery, beloved former nun, caregiver, and dedicated nurse anesthetist.

She was a graduate of Baylor University, where she laid the foundation for a lifelong career in healthcare. Her compassionate nature led her to work at the Medical Center of Dallas and later at Our Lady of Lourdes, where she served as a certified Nurse Anesthetist. In addition to her work, she was a devoted daughter, having lovingly cared for both her mother and father in their later years. She had a deep affection for her pets and a passion for watching football. She found joy in cheering on her favorite teams. She will be missed by many. Rest in peace, Ms. Lucille. Your legacy of love and service will never be forgotten.

She is survived by her best friend, Marie Vidrine of Lafayette; and her friend and caregiver, Olivia Harrison of Youngsville.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Jeffery, Jr. and Lucille Governale Jeffery.

Ms. Lucille’s loved ones would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Hospice of Acadiana, the staff at Calcutta House, and her dedicated caregivers: Tyessia Rudd, Tanya Noel, April Smith, Halana Nicholas, and Jazlene Rack, for the compassionate care they provided to her in her final days.

Serving as pallbearers will be Bryan Harrison, Jonah Harrison, Bryan “Pops” Harrison, Mark Avant, John Laurent, and Woody Watson.
