New Iberia– A private memorial service will be held at a later date for Mrs. Lois Z. Jones, 93. Mrs. Jones passed away on Wednesday, November 24, 2023 at a local nursing facility.

Mrs. Lois, a beloved soul with a heart full of warmth and a spirit adorned with kindness, left an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to have known her. Born with a green thumb, she found solace and joy in tending to her garden, cultivating vibrant blooms that mirrored her own radiant personality. Mrs. Lois was not only a master gardener but also a skilled artisan, pouring her creativity into various crafts that brought beauty to both her home and the lives of those around her. Her culinary prowess was equally impressive, as she delighted in preparing meals that became the heart of countless family gatherings.

At the center of Mrs. Lois' life was her cherished Asbury Methodist Church in Bossier City, where she found not only spiritual fulfillment but also a community that became an extended family. Her commitment to the church was exemplified through her active involvement, particularly in the annual pumpkin patch, where she volunteered with enthusiasm and dedication. Mrs. Lois cherished family above all else, relishing in the company of her nine siblings, daughter, and grandchildren during joyous gatherings that became the cornerstone of her legacy. In the tapestry of her life, Mrs. Lois' love for gardening, crafts, and cooking served as vibrant threads, weaving a rich and beautiful story that will be remembered with fondness by all who had the privilege of sharing in her warmth and generosity.

She is survived by her daughter, Connie Morgan and husband Jimmy of New Iberia; grandchildren, Jason Galewski and wife Bree of Lafayette, Ben Morgan of Denton, TX; great grandchildren, Madelyn Galewski, Nerys Morgan; sisters, Lennie Ritter of South Carolina, Jackie Johnson of Bossier City, LA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wise and Bessie Johnson; and siblings, Grayce Smith, Joe Johnson, W.C. Johnson, Sid Johnson, Grady Johnson, Ted Johnson, and Nina Daugherty.

The family would like to thank Azalea Estates, Maison Teche, Hospice of Acadiana, and her caregivers, Elizabeth Livingston, Laura Bellard, and Doretha Charles for all of their care and compassion.
