Larry Joseph Arton

Jeanerette- A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Larry Joseph Arton, 78, will be held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at 11:00Am with Fr. Paul Broussard officiating. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at Frioux-David Funeral Home of Jeanerette on Friday, February 7, 2025 from 5:00PM until 9:00PM with a recitation of the rosary at 7:00PM. Visitation will resume on Saturday February 8, 2025 from 8:00AM until time of services.

A resident of Jeanerette, Mr. Larry passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2025. He had a deep sense of service, dedication, and passion for life. His contributions to his community, both through his military service and involvement in local events, paint a picture of someone who was deeply loved and respected.  He bravely served our country as a sailor of the United States Navy. He served as the Commander of VFW Post 8150 for several years circa 1985. He was also the BINGO caller for ten years at Ward Eight and the VFW.  He played semi-pro baseball and enjoyed golf and softball as well. Mr. Larry was a man of many talents. His hobbies and talents, from sports to woodworking, showcase his versatility and creativity, while his love for family and his cats reflects the warmth of his character. He will surely be remembered fondly by those who knew him.

He is survived by his son, Art Arton and his significant other Vanesa Gonzales of Texas; his daughter, Yvonne Jacobs and her husband George of Mississippi; his grandchildren, Noah Joseph Arton, Ava Grace Arton, and Randolph Lawrence Jacobs; his siblings, Terry John Arton and his wife LouJuanna, and Robert Paul Arton and his wife Terri; and his nephew, Steven Arton.

He is preceded in death by is wife of 39 years and mother of his children, Judy LeBlanc Arton; his parents, Lawrence and Rita Arton; and his in-laws, Romeal and Odiel LeBlanc.
