Koun Phothiraj

New Iberia– Funeral services will be held for Mrs. Koun Phothiraj, 82, on Sunday, February 20, 2022 at 1:00PM at David Funeral Home of New Iberia.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 19, 2022 from 5:00PM until 7:00PM, and resume on Sunday, February 20, 2022 from 12:00PM until time of service.

A native of Savannaket, Laos and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Phothiraj passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at her home. She was a devout Buddhist and visited the Temple often. She enjoyed tending to her garden and adored the time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by son, Lado Phothiraj of Fresno, CA; grandchildren, Angel Phakonekham, Andy and Katie Phothiraj, Thongxay Rattanaxay and Honda Phothirath; and her sister, Khumpun Hembut of Thailand.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Syio Phothiraj; parents, Sing and Thongkham Sermsap; and her brothers and sisters.

Honored to serve as Pallbearers are Lado Phothiraj, Angel Phakonekham, Andy Phothiraj, Thongxay Rattanaxay, Honda Phothirath, Mixay Pathammavong and Chris Davis.
