Katina Makole Smith

Abbeville- A Mass of Christian Burial for Ms. Katina Makole Smith, 45, will be held at St. Theresa of the Child of Jesus Catholic Church on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at 11:00AM with Fr. François Sainte-Marie officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at David Funeral Home of Abbeville on Saturday, September 14, 2024 from 8:00AM until time of services with a recitation of the rosary at 10:00AM.

A native of Abbeville, Ms. Katina passed away on Tuesday, September 3, 2024. She was a creative soul with a passion for crafting and a flair for vibrant expression, as seen in her colorful nails and ever-stylish hair. Her love for shopping and her mother's home-cooked meals, especially her mother's smothered okra, brought her great joy. Ms. Katina was a devoted supporter of her son’s band at Abbeville High School, and her encouragement extended to everyone around her. Her deep affection for family and friends made a lasting impact, and she will be deeply missed by many.

She is survived by her children, Inglyn Smith and Oatlon Smith; her mother, Elsie M. Smith; and her grandchildren, Samee Sam, McKoy Henderson, and Edyn Henderson.

She is preceded in death by her father, Samuel Smith, Jr.; her maternal grandparents, Allison Mitchell and Mae Mitchell; and her paternal grandparents, Samuel Smith, Sr. and Justina Smith.

Serving as pallbearers will be Kalen Smith, Dillon Briggs, Dwayne Briggs, Lawrence Mitchell, Derrian Hawthorne, and McKinley Henderson.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Oatlon Smith, Samee Sam, McKoy Henderson, Raymond Mitchell, Paul Christy, Reginald Christy, and Deveron Turner.
