Lafayette - "Bobby Kubelka, 70, of Youngsville, LA, passed away in his home on June 29, 2023 at 9:25 PM from his fight with pancreatic cancer. To honor Bobby’s memory, we are holding a celebration of his life on July 11, 2023 at 11:00 am at David Funeral Home Broussard location (316 Youngsville Hwy, Lafayette, LA 70508). We invite anyone who knew him to attend and remember his wonderful life. We also ask attendees to wear bright colors.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Sandra Slaughter Kubelka; his kids, Nasha Kubelka Foulks (Bill), Curtis Ray, Sayra Kubelka, Christian Ray, Bianca Kubelka Westmoreland (Mason), Paige Kubelka Bourque (Brant), and Jennifer Istre (Tim); his grandchildren, Zoe Foulks, Cameron Tamplain, Jacob Seaux (Skylar), Silas Guidry, Piper Foulks, Gabrielle Ray, Jayda Ray, Ryan Ray, River Foulks, Silas Tamplain, Miles Foulks, Emalyse Tamplain, Finn Westmoreland, and Bennett Bourque (arriving August 2023); his great grandchildren, Ellis Tamplain and Evelyn Seaux; his siblings, Tracie Louviere (Earl), Kaki Kubelka, and Kris Kubelka (Tammie); and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father Joseph Robert Kubelka Jr, his mother Theresa Marie Kubelka, his brothers Tim Kubelka and Bryan Kubelka, his son Job Kubelka, and 3 grandchildren (Breelyn, Preston, and Brielle).
Bobby was an inductee of the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame for his work in Blacdog. He was the epitome of creativity. He was a talented and passionate musician, artist, and craftsman. His hands and voice were his biggest gifts. He worked and created until he couldn’t anymore, because if you knew him, he couldn’t sit still. He owned and operated his own company, Kubelka Floor & Trim, for 40+ years. Although he was very skilled in carpentry, he would never finish his projects at home. He was always “fixin’ to” finish it. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a very giving person and has actually given his shirt off of his back to someone who needed it. He believed in second chances, but would also give people a tenth chance if he felt they deserved it. There wasn’t a stranger he didn’t become friends with.
As much as he will be missed, his family and friends take comfort in knowing he is finally at peace, free of pain and suffering."
