John Wayland "Bill" Lambert, Jr., Dvm

Lafayette – Funeral services for John Wayland “Bill” Lambert Jr., DVM, 79, will be held Saturday March 13, 2021 at 10:00 AM at David Funeral Home, with Pastor Weldon Moak, Pastor of First Baptist Church of Broussard officiating.

Visitation will be held Friday March 12, 2021 from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM and will continue Saturday from 9:00 AM until time of services. Burial will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park.

Dr. Lambert was a native of Jennings and a resident of Youngsville. He was a graduate of Lafayette High School; from there he went on to earn both a Bachelor Degree in Animal Science and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Texas A&M. He was a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Louisiana Veterinary Medical Association, Acadiana Area Veterinary Association, Sons of the Confederate Veterans, and a member of First Baptist Church of Lafayette. Dr. Lambert practiced Veterinary Medicine in the Lafayette LA area for 52 years, with the privilege of working with multiple generations of clients; During the Vietnam Conflict, Dr. Lambert held the rank of Captain, where he served as the Chief, Fort Sill Branch, Veterinary Division, Office of the Installation Surgeon, for which he was awarded a Certificate of Achievement issued by the United States Army Fort Sill, Oklahoma and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years Bette Cooper Lambert of Youngsville; his children Bruce (Suzanne) Lambert of Folsom LA, Jennifer Nicole (Jeffery) Roddy of Lafayette, and William Stuart (Krisandra) Lambert of Iva, SC;  Dr. Lambert is also survived by his grandchildren Jessica Lambert Price, Brooke Hanner Lambert, Slade Lambert, Wyatt Skyler Lambert, Sophia Roddy, and Joel Roddy; his great grandchild Vada Green and expecting two more; his brother Huey Lambert of Steward, Florida; and his sister Martha Peddy of Houston Texas.

He was preceded in death by his grandchild Matthew B Lambert; his parents John Wayland Lambert Sr. and Virginia Bish Lambert; and his sister Carole Lambert Drake.

Honored to serve as Pallbearers are Slade Lambert, Wyatt Lambert, Michael Price, Joel Roddy, Kevin Malhiet and Cy Evanguelidi.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Tommie Gallet, Gerard Goodly and Lanny Slaydon.
