Funeral Services for Mr. Doyle Dean, Jr., 75, will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at David Funeral Chapel of Lafayette. Interment will be held at a later date. Visitation will be at David Funeral Home of Lafayette on Saturday, April 2, 2022 from 10:00AM until the time of the services. A native of Littlefield, Texas, Doyle (John D. Dean, Jr.) joined the Army in 1969, and served in the Vietnam War. He attended Spartan School of Aeronautics in Tulsa, OK then moved to Lafayette in 1971 to begin his career with PHI as an A&P (helicopter) mechanic. He was a dedicated and loyal employee. He was so passionate about maintaining helicopters that he would refer to them as “his helicopters”. He considered himself blessed as his job allowed him to travel and work in many different locations both domestic and international. He developed a deep love and appreciation for the people and culture in the countries where he was based. His fondest and most treasured were the people he met and worked with at Lahak Aviation LTD, Israel. After 44 years, when his career ended with PHI, the Lord blessed him with another opportunity to continue doing what he loved to do. Doyle was employed by RLC and was based in Venice, LA. Again with the same dedication, loyalty and passion for maintaining helicopters, he once again had the opportunity to develop many new friendships. Doyle knew no stranger. In 1996 he married the love of his life, Debby, and graciously accepted the opportunity to be a dad, not just a stepdad, to her children and Paw Paw to her grandchildren. Doyle so loved playing with his grandchildren and welcomed all activities they came up with such as jumping on the trampoline, playing school, playing with dolls and/or trucks with the boys, and last but not least letting the girls apply makeup on him and then, fully decked out, going to McDonald’s to pick up lunch. He loved every opportunity and loved life to its fullest when he was with them. Doyle enjoyed fishing but he loved playing on jet skis at Toledo Bend. Doyle is survived by his wife Debby, 3 daughters, Timori Tullier(Jude); Courtney Guidry(Todd); Jenny Delino(Dustin); and his son Cedric Stelly(Tricia); 13 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; his sister Peggy Dean Schroyer and nephew Jason Dean(Jana). Doyle was preceded in death by his parents John D. Dean, Sr. and Sybil Byers Dean. David Funeral Home of Lafayette at 316 Youngsville Hwy (337)837-9887 will be handling the arrangements.
