John Gerald Comeaux

August 25, 1933 — December 28, 2023

Lafayette  - Funeral services will be held Tuesday January 2, 2024, at 10:30 A.M. at St. Anne Catholic Church, for John Gerald Comeaux with Father Michael Russo officiating. John passed away peacefully on December 28, 2023 at the St. Joseph Carpenter House, at the age of 90.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 2, 2024 from 9:30A.M. until the time of service. Burial will follow in St. Anne Catholic Cemetery.

John Gerald was born August 25, 1933. He was a lifelong resident of Youngsville and loved his community. He was always willing to do a service like cook gumbo, or barbeque for a good cause. John Gerald was president of the Youngsville K. of C. Youngsville Lions Club, President of Teche League Baseball in the 60’s, and President of the festival of Beauties. John Gerald was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He enjoyed playing golf with “Rator Gator” Saturday morning friends. He was also a member of he Acadiana Cup International Golf Team where he made many trips to Europe and Canada. He also loved hunting and fishing.

With a kind and loving heart, he was a Ardent and strong supporter of St. Jude.  Gerald was retired from the US Postal Service with 30 years of service. In his retirement he spent his spare time at home in his garden where he was known for his prize tomatoes and his chickens and eggs, with perseverance and courage he maintained his independence into his final days. He will be missed by all.

John was preceded in death by his parents Martial James Comeaux and Rita F’abre Comeaux; two brothers Jess Comeaux, and James Comeaux; his three sisters Sunny Mancusi, Kathy Fontenot, and Beverly Vincent. He is survived by many treasured nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers will be James Comeaux Jr., Gregery Tomore Jr., Pat Howard, Johnny Johnson, Reggie Savoie, and Bobby Hardy.

Heartfelt appreciation for the care given by the BeeHive Assisted living in Youngsville. Thanks to Rachae Davis and staff, also his neighbors Saralyn Carpenter, Lee Romero, and Myrna Bertrand for the years of help they gave him with suppers, doctor’s appointments, and other services requested. Bless You !
