John Harvey Bernard

Lafayette - At 6:30 PM last evening (Nov. 21 ^st ), my father John H. Bernard, quietly and very peacefully passed away while sleeping. He asked for private services with very close and minimum family to be held when the sun was shining.

He did not suffer. God brought him home for the long haul to see everyone he missed. He will be kept alive in memory as always by myself and my grandparents, his parents Harvey and Irene Bernard; and his loving brother and sister Joseph and Janice and their families.

My dad was a great man. To every kid growing up their dad starts out as a superhero and eventually becomes a parental figure that you have everyday ups and downs with, but while that was going on my dad still had his cape on. Never once did he let that cape fall off. He kept flying and showing me everyday what it meant to be a kick butt super dad. I Love You dad and I know your up there now with mom finally snuggled up in bed just waiting for the next Saints game. I Love you and your memory will live on forever, and as you say “Smile and Laissez Les Bon Temps Rouler!”
