Jimmy Joseph Dore

Lafayette – A Mass of Christian burial for Jimmy Joseph Dore, 87, will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2023 at 2:00PM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Broussard with Father Michael Delcambre officiating. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Mausoleum.

Visitation will be held at David Funeral Home in Lafayette Thursday, February 23, 2023 from 9:00AM – until time of Services with a recitation of the rosary at 12:30PM.

A native and resident of Saint Martinville, Jimmy trained and raced horses in his younger years. He enjoyed farming and being on his tractor. He loved camping, boucheries and family gatherings at his house. He passed away at 8:57AM on Friday, February 17, 2023 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

He is survived by wife, Janelle Dore; two daughters, Suzette  LeGrand and her companion Vincent McIntyre, and Patty Ann Cannino and her husband David; eight grandchildren, twenty great-grand children and four great-great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jean Dore and Edna Albert Dore; his step-father, Oneal Verret; two sons, Jimmy Jean Dore and Joey Joseph Dore; three sisters, Celine Caswell, Joyce Benoit and Janette Landry; and a brother, C.J. Dore.

Serving as pall bearers will be Travis LeGrand, Jason Dore, Brian Cannino, Jesse Cannino, Dustin Koning and Gaige Dugas.

Serving as honorary pall bearer will be Brennon Cannino.

The family would like to offer a special thanks to Amedisys Hospice and Audubon Home Health for the special care that was given to Jimmy.
