A native of Bossier City and resident of New Iberia, Jerry passed away on Friday, July 15, 2022, at Oschner Medical Center in New Orleans. He loved music (he was a member of Iberia Community Band, Eunice Community Choir and Band, and Iberia Swamp Band). He, also, loved his motorcycle. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandkids; He was looking forward to meeting his new great granddaughter, Emersyn Lester. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus 4676. For 25 years he enjoyed owning his own business as a lawn caretaker. He was, also, employed with St. Joseph Catholic Church in Loreauville. As a giving person, he donated his body for medical research, the ultimate gift.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Marian Freyou Fruge’; his children, Claire F. Richard (Ryan), Sarah F. Lester (R.J.); his grandchildren, Jacob, Brennon, Slade, Shai, Nicholas, Jayden, Emmalyn, and AnnaMae; his three great grandchildren; his brother, Ronnie Fruge’ (Tina); and his niece, Lisa Fruge’.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Clotile Fruge’; his stepmother, Rita Fruge’; and his in-laws, Roy and Emmadell Freyou.
The family would like to thank their immediate close friends and family for always being there when they needed. They would, also, like to thank the heart transplant doctors and nurses for their compassionate and personal care in Jerry’s time of need.
