Janice True Duncan

New Iberia – It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mrs. Janice True Brown Duncan, 83, who passed away on February 26, 2025, surrounded by her family.

Janice had a passion for many creative pursuits, which brought beauty and comfort to all who knew her. She loved spending time with family, in her garden, reading books and listening to music.   She was a constant for her daughters always willing to take care of her grandchildren (and granddogs). Her hands were never still, and she found great joy in sewing, quilting, crocheting, painting, and needle work and more. Through her artistry, she created countless gifts of love for family and friends, each one a reflection of her creativity.

As a member of Highland Baptist Church, Janice was an active participant in church life, where her kindness and generosity touched the lives of many. She will be missed not only for her deep faith but also for the love and support she shared with her church family.

She is survived by her husband, David Duncan; her daughters, Kathryn Rodrigue and her husband Richard, Barbara Duncan, and Kimberly Duncan Arellano and her husband Michael; seven grandchildren, David Rodrigue and his wife Lexi, Benajmin Rodrigue, Bridget Arellano, Elena Arellano, Andrew Rodrigue, Alexa Cantreva, and Duncan Cantreva; and two siblings, Naomi Gomer McDade and Paul Brown.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Silvor Elvira VanOsdol; and nine siblings, Charlotte Fawn Brown, Mary Ruth McLellan Roach, Alma Louise Trahan, Docia Mae Lott, Jean Wilmot Johnson, Guilbeaux Lance, John Caleb, James Harlen Elkins, and Deana Fern Maddox.
