Janet Helluin Thigpen

Lafayette – A Mass of Christian burial for Janet Helluin Thigpen, 71, will be held at 2:00PM on Friday, December 29, 2023 at St. Pius X Catholic Church with Father James Brady officiating. Interment will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park.

Visitation will be held at David Funeral Home of Lafayette on Friday, December 29, 2023 beginning at 8:30AM until the time of Service.

It is with a heavy heart we announce the passing of Janet Helluin Thigpen of Lafayette, La. She took her final breath on December 26, 2023.

Janet, owner of ASI Elite Travel, was a lover of travel. She excelled as a travel agent for over 50 years. She was a powerhouse and capable of anything. She was strength. She never met a stranger. She loved life and fought hard. She was the best wife, mother and sister. She was grace. She was compassionate. She loved to love and be loved and she was so loved. She was a bright light and today the world is a little less bright without her in it.

Janet is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Gordon Bruce Thigpen; her adoring children, Gregory James (Brittany Cobb), Megan (Ursel) Scoles and Susie Thigpen; four grandkids, Paige Scoles, Piper Scoles, Ruby Thigpen and Ryan James Thigpen; her mother, Maude Helluin; and her siblings, Janis LeGros, Leslie Harless (Dana), Jay Helluin (Stella) and Jon Helluin; nieces and nephews, Tara LeGros, Brett, Kyle and Erin Harless, James, Christopher, Renee and Matthew Helluin.

She is preceded in death by her father, Francis Jerome Helluin; a brother, David Helluin; and a brother-in-law, Don LeGros and nephew, Ryan LeGros.

Serving as pallbearers will be Gregory Thigpen, Jay Helluin, Jon Helluin, Ursel Scoles, Christopher Thigpen and Kyle Harless.
