James Neil "Jimmy" Devoltz, Sr.

Abbeville – A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. James Neil “Jimmy” Devoltz, Sr., 68, will be held at 2:30PM on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church with Fr. Louis Richard officiating.  Interment will follow at St. Paul Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at David Funeral Home of Abbeville on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 beginning at 9:00AM until the time of the services with a recitation of the rosary at 11:00AM.

A native of Mansfield, LA and a resident of Abbeville, Mr. Devoltz passed at 4:30PM on Wednesday, November 23, 2022 at his residence.  He worked for Dresser Engineering for over 20 years , and then worked for Fluor Enterprises for over 20 years and was known for his enjoyment of golfing, fishing, and hunting.

He is survived by two sons, James Neil Devoltz, Jr. and his wife Christi of Magnolia, TX and Joseph Edward Devoltz, Sr. and his wife Trisha of Kaplan; four daughters, Kasha Devoltz Romero and her husband Jerrod of Abbeville, Jaron Paige Devoltz of  Maurice, Brittni Renee Devoltz of Maurice, and Chelsea Terrelle Ann Devoltz of Maurice; his wife of 30 years, Ludie Lege Devoltz; a brother, Kenneth Devoltz and his wife Delores; two sisters, Nell D. Hebert and her husband Brad and Barbara D. Galyean and fourteen grandchildren, Hannah Marie Devoltz, Hollie Anne Devoltz, Hank Joseph Devoltz, Jasmine Elyssa Devoltz, Joseph Edward Devoltz, Jr., Jacob Neil Devoltz, Taylor James Bares, Julie Ann Romero, Avery Claire Romero, Layla Rose Devoltz-Griffin, Noah Jordan Warren, Remi Simone Warren, Luke Ryan Devoltz, and Pia Jolie Devoltz.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Napoleon Devoltz and Beulah Mitchell Devoltz; two brothers, Henry Doyle Devoltz and Dewayne Devoltz; a sister, Elva Jean Devoltz Harris, a sister in law, Pamela Johnson Devoltz; a brother in law, Heber Douvaughn Harris, and two nephews, Ronald Douvaughn Harris and Joe Galyean.

Serving as pallbearers will be Ike Galyean, Troy Theall, Randy Harris, Brian Dubois, Greg Dubois, and Dewayne Devoltz, Jr..

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Luke Devoltz, Hank Devoltz, Noah Warren, Taylor James Bares, Joseph Edward Devoltz, Jr., Jacob Devoltz  and Tony Galyean.
