Gregory Theriot

Lafayette- A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Gregory Theriot, 67, will be held at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church on Saturday, September 4, 2021, at 11:00AM with Fr. Michael Delcambre officiating. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Mausoleum.

Visitation will be held at David Funeral Home of Lafayette on Friday, September 3, 2021, from 5PM until 8PM with a recitation of the rosary at 7PM. Visitation will resume on Saturday, September 4, 2021, at 8AM until time of services.

A resident of Broussard, Mr. Gregory passed away on Tuesday, August 31, 2021. He enjoyed fishing, serving his church community and spending time with his family. He was a retired Master Trooper with the Louisiana State Police, a former Louisiana State Police field training officer, and was currently serving as the Evidence Manager for the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office. He was the recipient of many awards during his career including the Jaycees Officer of The Year and the ACE Louisiana State Police award. He was recognized as the most devoted catholic of K/C 7557. He was an active Fourth-Degree member of the Knights of Columbus and also served as Grand Knight. He also dedicated time to the youth of Broussard by instructing CCD at Sacred Heart and coaching for the BYYA youth sports.

He is survived by his wife, Karen Theriot of Broussard; his sons, David Vaughn and his wife Missy of Barker, NY, and Christopher Michael Theriot and his wife Bridget of Broussard; his daughters, Kimberly Gaspard and her husband Cedric of Broussard, and Kendra Judice and her husband Shane of Broussard; his brothers, Scott Theriot of New Iberia, and Anthony Theriot and his wife Wendy of New Iberia; his grandchildren, Ian Primeaux, Alexis Gaspard, Addison Gaspard, Victoria Judice, Devin Judice, Harper Theriot, and Bennett Theriot; his great-grandson, Cooper Scott; and his great niece, Ava Anthony who held a special place in his heart.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Alton Theriot and Elsie Barras Trahan; his brother, Alton James Theriot; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Irving O’Brien, Sr. and Grace Romero O’Brien.

Serving as pallbearers will be David Vaughn, Christpher Theriot, Scott Theriot, Anthony Theriot, Ian Primeaux, and Shane Judice.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Robert O’Brien, Ronny Theriot, Marty Patin, and Devin Judice.
