New Iberia– A Private Graveside Service will be held at a later date for Mrs. Gloria Savoy Peltier, 94. Interment will follow at Holy Family Cemetery.
A native and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Peltier passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2023 at Azalea Estates Assisted Living with her family by her side.
Gloria was the only child of Lawrence and Bernadette Savoy. Gloria enjoyed traveling and embarking on bus tours. She cherished the opportunity to explore new places, make friends with fellow travelers, and immerse herself in the local culture. Gloria’s green thumb was seen in her potted plant garden. It brought her peace and tranquility, and she would often jokingly tell her family, “Bring me flowers while I’m alive, not after I’m gone”. Two of Gloria’s most cherished collections were her China hummingbirds and shoes. She never passed up an opportunity to go shopping even if she didn’t plan on spending a dime. Perhaps the most endearing quality that Gloria nurtured later in life was her boundless capacity for laughter and her mission to spread cheer. She had a unique sense of humor, and her wit could turn any dull moment into a hilarious one. She used humor to generously bring joy to those around her.
Gloria’s life was a testament to the love of games, books, and human connection. Through Pokeno, bingo, dominos, and the pages of countless novels, she found not only entertainment but also the means to create lasting bonds and spread happiness. Her time at Azalea Estates Assisted Living was marked by her unwavering positivity and her genuine love for the people around her. Gloria will forever be remembered as a beacon of light and joy, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She is survived by her daughter, Renee Peltier Norris and husband Johnny of New Iberia; four grandchildren, Mike Romero and wife Debbie of Carencro, Stacy Romero Hebert and husband Shane of New Iberia, Shaun Norris of New Orleans, and Jodie Norris McBride and husband Ryan of Youngsville; great grandchildren, Bridget Tilley and fiancé Mike Choate, Brooke Speer and husband Hamlet, Brittni Williams, Calli Hebert, Shana Hebert, Alyssa Hebert, Parker McBride, Reese McBride and Evan McBride; great great grandchildren, Cassie Tilley Husband and husband Macade, Tabitha Tilley, Braden Tilley, Rainah Speer, Amara Williams, Saoirse Brown, Nyla Hebert; and son-in-law, Lloyd Romero of New Iberia.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Doles “Pete” Peltier; her parents, Lawrence and Bernadette Savoy; and daughter, Trudy Peltier Romero.
