Jeanerette – A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for Gaynell Hebert Sonnier, 80, on Friday, March 31, 2023, at 1:00 PM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Father Alexander Albert officiating. Burial will follow at St. John Mausoleum.
A resident of Jeanerette, Mrs. Sonnier passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at 11:02 AM at her residence. A Rosary will be prayed in the funeral home on Friday at 11:00 AM.
She was a former Substitute Teacher with the Iberia Parish School System. She enjoyed traveling with her friends and going to the casino.
She is survived by her children, Nelson “Bubba” Sonnier of Jeanerette and Lynelle Sonnier of Lafayette and her granddaughter, Robyn Sonnier of Lafayette.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dalton Joseph Sonnier; her father, Nelson Hebert and her mother, Esmee Aucoin Hebert.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to her sitters, Tesa Young, Jane Armstead and Laura Bellard; Amedisys Home Health and Landmark of Acadiana.
