Fred Melvin Liebert, Jr.

Lafayette – A Memorial Service for Mr. Fred Melvin Liebert, Jr., 66, will be held at 10:00AM on Saturday, October 08, 2022 at David Funeral Home with Fr. Keith Duhon officiating.

A gathering of family and friends will be at David Funeral Home on Saturday, October 08, 2022 starting at 9:00AM until the time of services.

Born in Juno, Alaska and a long-time resident of the Lafayette area, Fred was an exceptional picture framer and started his business, Golden Leaf Design, to capitalize on his talents. Later in life, Fred worked as an offshore technician in the oil field and was able to travel the world. Fred could build or fix anything! He was always creating some kind of gadget to make his life easier. Despite his efforts, Fred passed away at his home after years of struggling with ataxia.

He is survived by his wife, Deborah Hebert Liebert; his son Nathan Gibson and his wife Kim Lidstrom; his siblings, Lorraine Liebert, Cynthia Robertson and her husband Harold, Katherine Liebert, Mary Liebert and her significant other Travis Lebel, and Julie Turner and her husband Kenneth Turner; his sisters-in-law, Kathleen Liebert Koontz and Wendy Arjo Liebert; his nieces, Jen, Molly, Leslie, Jessica, Clara, Adrienne and Katie; his nephews, Chris, Connor, Kris, Matt and Sam; his great-nieces, Savannah, Violet, Bri, Lilly and Abby; and his great-nephews, Travis, Drew, Wesley and William. And by Pat Hutchinson, who was a friend and caregiver throughout his later years.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Fred M. Liebert, Sr. and Nell Leger Liebert; and his brothers, Michael Liebert and Ralph Liebert.
