Lafayette - A Celebration of the Life of Frank G. Phillips, 88, will be held Saturday February 26, 2022 at 11:00 AM in David Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Saturday from 8:00 AM until time of services. Frank was known by many names, Dad, Frankie Baby, Mr. Frank, Uncle Frank but most fondly, Papa. An avid fisherman, he loved the water and every creature in it. If it could be caught, he tried to do so! Frank was born in Lake Charles Louisiana to William Lawrence and Mabel Landry Phillips on August 8, 1933. At a young age, he met his future wife while both had paper routes in Houston, TX. After high school, he graduated from the University of Houston with a degree in Geology. During his career, he was a member of various career related organizations including SIPES and The Lafayette Geological Society. He also worked as a radiation remediator after earning a certificate at Louisiana State University. His hobbies include hunting, boating and most of all fishing. He had fondness for cars, airplanes, sketching and being on the water. He was quick with a joke or a good story and never shied away from a conversation. He loved God, his family and his friends, especially those in the Liars club and Bass club. He also earned the honor of being the President of the Petroleum Club of Lafayette. Frank is survived by his children Joe and his wife Megg Phillips and their children Dan and his wife Shannon and Rachael Phillips, Cindy Morgan, Paul and his wife Pam Phillips and their children Lauren, Tyler and his wife Kayla, and Austin and his wife Ally Phillips, Jennifer and her husband Saul Savoie and their daughter Samantha, and Chuck and his wife Deb Higdon and his children Lance and his wife Noelle, Kacie and her husband David and Sean Higdon. He is also survived by his great grandchildren Lexie Phillips, Chandler Broussard, Lydia Higdon, Iris Higdon, James Phillips, Brennan Higginbotham, and Anna Marie Phillips; and his sister Mary Gail Leatherman. Frank was preceded in death by his wife Joanna K. Phillips; his son in law Randy Morgan; his parents William and Mabel Landry Phillips; four brothers and two sisters-in-law, and one brother-in-law.
