Florella had a servant’s heart. She enjoyed a career as a nurse since a young girl. Beginning with Palm’s Hospital in Abbeville, where she met her best friend of 70 years, Loraine Meyers of New Iberia, and Clara Dean Fredrick of Abbeville. Then she worked at Abbeville General Hospital in the ER, nursery, and labor and delivery. Patients often spoke of her as a wonderful caretaker and a loving nurse who took pride in her career. Eventually she became employed by Dr. Nunez, Dr. Manuel, and Dr. Gupta (Pediatricians) until her retirement. Her co-worker, Sandra Blancas, became “like a sister” to her. During her retirement years Flo enjoyed spending time with family, especially her grandchildren who brought so much joy to her. She loved spending time in her flower garden and watching her flowers grow. She took great care of her flower garden. Extra time was spent fishing, playing cards, and going to the casino with her beloved siblings, Ver Guilbeaux and Brenda Romero. She missed them very much.

She was proceeded in death by her husband of 65 years, Chester Trahan. Her parents; Reynard and Loris Menard; two sisters; Brenda Romero and Verly Guilbeaux; three nephews; John Romero, Glenn Trahan, and Bryan Bourque; and a niece; Michelle Romero.

Thank you also to Connie Jacobs, her personal advocate at MD Anderson. You made our experience seamless. A big thank you to Weldon Granger. Mr. Granger your kindness and generosity will never be forgotten. The family would like to thank her local doctors, Dr. Petry and Dr. Rossen (Nurse Shelia). A special thank you to Nurse Whitney of Hospice of Acadiana. Also, to our family at Concepts of Care. Mrs. Flo’s family is grateful to Father Manny for his visits with our “Queen”. She enjoyed the conversations, many blessings, and prayers he provided. A special thank you to Monica Abshire, for being her favorite hairdresser. We will forever be thankful to her godchild, Todd Trahan, who was like a son to her, for all the transports to Houston. His love and compassion did not go unnoticed.
