Patoutville– It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mr. Ferdinand “Sugar” Verret Sr., 82. In keeping with his wishes, no services will be held at this time.
A native of St. Mary Parish and resident of Patoutville, Mr. Verret passed away on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at Iberia Medical Center. Mr. Verret enjoyed the simple things in life; being on the bay, hunting, fishing and tending to his garden.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Merlene Verret of Patoutville; children, Catherine Courville and husband Jimmy of Patoutville, Ferdinand Verret Jr. of Patoutville; grandchildren, Keith Courville and wife Rosie of Baton Rouge, Scott Courville of Patoutville; great grandson, Ferdinand Courville of Baton Rouge; and sister, Mary Prudhomme of Charenton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fernest and Edna Verret; and his siblings, Walter Verret, Howard Verret, Wilson Verret, Ulysse Verret, and Marion Derouen.
The family would like to thank the doctors and IMC ICU nurses and staff for the care and compassion given to Mr. Ferdinand.
