Jeanerette–A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for Faye Ann Moresi Buteau, age 64 on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church at 1:30 p.m. with Father Francis Damoah, SVD officiating the funeral mass. Entombment will follow at St. John the Evangelist Mausoleum.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:30 p.m. The Holy Rosary will be prayed at 11:30 in the funeral home.
On the evening of Friday, November 10, 2023, Faye Ann Moresi Buteau, passed away peacefully at her home from Parkinsonism. Faye was surrounded by her loved ones when she went to be with the Lord.
Faye was born May 19, 1959, in New Iberia, Louisiana to the late George P. Moresi, Sr. and Geraldine Rita Daigle.
Faye is leaving behind a legacy that ripples through the hearts of many. Faye’s first love was her husband, Rickey Buteau, Sr. The couple married on February 4, 1978, and their 45-year marriage was a testament to enduring love. Faye and Rickey raised three children and Faye was dedicated to her children in all aspects of their lives. Faye's devotion to her family knew no bounds, which was evident in her involvement in all her children’s activities. From coaching softball in Jeanerette Little League to teaching catechism for her church, St. John the Evangelist, Faye dedicated many years of service to her community. Faye was also an active member of the Legion of Mary. Faye's commitment to her community was recognized when she received the Outstanding Citizen of the Year award from the Jeanerette Chamber of Commerce.
Faye was a dedicated Special Education paraprofessional. Faye loved her job and loved her students. Faye made it a point to show her students the same love she showed her own three children. She celebrated their birthdays, and Christmas, and showed support for them outside of school. Faye was a cheerleader to all. Her positivity and love for others was an inspiration to all who knew her.
Faye had an infectious spirit and a love for celebrating. She was truly blessed to have such a big family and a lifelong core group of friends to share life’s most precious moments with. Faye will forever be missed at Christmas. She absolutely loved the Christmas season and leaves behind the fondest memories and traditions for her children and grandchildren to carry on.
In her 64 years, Faye Ann Moresi Buteau epitomized a life built on love, service, and an unwavering commitment to those she held dear. Her absence leaves an irreplaceable void in the hearts of her loved ones and the community she so passionately served. Her memory will continue to be a guiding light, inspiring others to emulate her selfless dedication and boundless love.
Mrs. Faye is survived by her husband of 45 years, Rickey Buteau, Sr., her three children, Amanda LeJeune (Denny), Kathryn Brasseaux (Chad), Rickey Buteau, Jr.; grandchildren, Madison Switzer, Chandler Brasseaux, Rikalyn Buteau, Andre’ LeJeune, Jasmine L. Mitchel (Elijah), Addison LeJeune; great-grandchildren, Emerson Mitchel, Elliot Mitchel, Eason Mitchel; seven siblings.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George P. Moresi, Sr, and the former Geraldine Daigle Moresi, and one sibling.
Honored to serve as Pallbearers are Denny LeJeune, Chad Brasseaux, Rickey Buteau, Jr., and Will Grubbs.
Honored to serve as Honorary Pallbearers are Chandler Brasseaux and Andre’ LeJeune.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Acadiana for the care and support they shared with them.
